Welcome to the all-new!

As BDJ Box’s curl ambassador, I’m always on the lookout for the best and latest hair products in the market. Here are five I’m loving this month.

1. Bed Head by TIGI “Dumb Blonde” Reconstructor for After Highlights, Damaged or Chemically Treated Hair, P3,000 (750ml)

I bought this for 1/3 the original price at the BDJ Box Beauty Boot Camp. What a steal! My first attempt at using Dumb Blonde wasn’t successful—only because I was on tipid mode. In my next few attempts, I slathered more of the product and left it on my hair for 30 minutes instead of the 5-10 minutes suggested on the label. It smells sweet and fruity, but make sure you dilute the product in water because the consistency is thick. Don’t expect it to correct the brassiness of your hair. This product simply helps restore the structure and softness of your hair that’s been chemically treated one too many times.

2. L’Oréal Professionnel Mythic Oil Nourishing Masque, P1,065 (200ml)

I’ve already achieved great results with the mythic oil version, so I wasn’t surprised when this masque gave my hair the extra moisture and softness it needed. I used this once every 1-2 weeks until I finished the whole container.

3. Davines OI Salon Treatment, P1,700 (depending on hair length) at Salon Beauvoir

When I had my hair assessed at Salon Beauvoir, they couldn’t find any hair damage or scalp problems (hooray!), so they suggested that I get the basic Davines OI experience. It includes shampooing and conditioning with the Beautifying Shampoo and Conditioner (with a bonus scalp massage!), followed by a 15-minute leave-on treatment using the All-In-One Milk Multi-Benefit Beauty Treatment. After semi-drying my curly hair in a diffuser, they applied the Absolute Beautifying Potion. My hair was so soft that it didn’t need any extra styling cream. Even after I showered the next day, I could still smell the Davines OI essence in my hair.

4. Skin Food Argan Oil Silk Hair Mask Pack

The Argan and Moroccan oil treatments I’ve tried in the past were all leave-in formulas. This is my first time to try one that needs to be rinsed off like conditioner. After thoroughly shampooing my hair, I applied Skin Food’s mask pack all over my hair and used a wide-toothed comb to thoroughly distribute the product. I left it on for 15 minutes before rinsing off. My hair felt so soft and detangled right after, and I placed only a few drops of L’Oréal Professionnel Mythic Oil to help style the curls.

5. Dove Refresh+Care Volume Dry Shampoo, P289.75 (141g)

I had this purchased for me as pasalubong from the US, thinking it wasn’t available in the Philippines yet. Turns out it’s been on the shelves for a while. As you know, I’m a fan of dry shampoo. I use it when traveling, or when I come home in the wee hours of the morning after a shoot or clubbing and I’m too tired to wash my hair. I simply spray dry shampoo on my roots and locks to get rid of the grime and smell. This one by Dove has a fruity, powdery smell that I like. I hope they’ll come out with a travel-sized version soon.
