Cleansing, toning, and moisturizing are the basic steps in skincare, but we usually overlook another essential step–exfoliating.
Exfoliating gets rid of the dead skin cells on the top layer of your skin, revealing brighter and clearer skin. Here are some things to know before embarking on this skincare routine:
1. Find the product that works for you. There are different types of exfoliators found in the market. Some are gentler than the others, which means you can use it twice a week, while most are best used once a week.
2. You can exfoliate other parts of the body, and not just your face. Try exfoliating your knees, elbows, and underarms to get rid of dead skin cells and help minimize discoloration.
3. Be gentle. Exfoliating products contain ingredients that scrub away dirt, so no need to rub it aggressively on your skin.
4. Moisturize and protect post-scrub. Apply a mild moisturizer or lotion to provide soothing nourishment post-exfoliation.
Tip: We all have different reactions to different products, so observe how your skin reacts to exfoliation. At the end of the day, stick to the routine that works best for you.
