A good facial mask has multiple benefits, such as clarifying, moisturizing, cleansing, and even lightening your skin. There are plenty of beauty brands that sell potent facial masks in different forms—sheets, clay, and cream. But for DIY Bellas, you can find ingredients in your refrigerator to help you concoct your own DIY mask!
Skin Problem: Oily and Acne-Prone Skin
Mask solution: clay masks
Product to try: GlamGlow Supermud Clearing Treatment, P3,750
Mix a capsule of activated charcoal and a tablespoon of castor oil. Charcoal draws out the impurities and acts like a magnet that grabs all the dirty elements clogging your pores, while castor oil is an anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal ingredient that treats a variety of skin conditions. Leave the mixture on your face for 10 minutes and rinse well.
Skin Problem: Dry or Stressed Skin
Mask solution: Hydrating cream or sheet masks (also known as tissue masks)
Product to try: Etude House I Need You Masks, P58 each
A mask made of honey and baking soda is perfect for dry skin. Honey contains a lot of moisturizing properties and acts as anti-bacterial agent, while baking soda is a gentle exfoliant that helps remove dead skin cells without causing too much irritation. Mix one tablespoon of honey and half a spoon of baking soda and leave the mixture on your face for 10 minutes. Rinse with warm water.
Skin Problem: Wrinkles and Signs of Aging
Mask solution: Anti-aging facial creams and sleep masks
Product to try: Dermal Healing Essence Facial Mask, P70 each
Vitamins C and E can produce a super potent anti-aging face mask. Vit. C helps fade sun spots and other signs of aging, and is also a powerful antioxidant that attacks free radicals in the skin that are causing us to age prematurely. Vit. E is known as a super moisturizer. Mix two vit. E liquid gel capsules and ½ tbsp. of powdered vit. C. You may add a few drops of mineral or distilled water if you want a more diluted consistency. Leave the mixture on your face for 15 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water afterwards.
Let me know which DIY mask works for you, Bellas. Be happy, stay pretty.
